Celebrating THREE years of life with M & M!

To our two little darlings,
Wow! Today you are turning 3 years old! THREE! Your daddy and I cannot believe you two have been with us for three whole years but then there are days where we feel like you have been with us forever! =) First of all, we love you both SO SO much! We didn't know just how much love we would have for you two until you arrived into our world. Now we are and never will be the same again. And for that matter, we might always be tired from the lack of sleep, ha! Secondly, we feel so privileged to be your parents. You challenge us DAILY to love you with a Christ-like love, to show you what it means to serve you unconditionally even through your sinful ways and show you undeserved grace, mercy, and patience. Sounds like a complete parallel of the way Christ demonstrates his love for us. We are so grateful that the Lord is sanctifying us through parenthood. We fall so short so often and we hope you always see repentant hearts from us and that we model well for you both what it means to ask for forgiveness We live with great expectations of how the Lord is going to use your lives for His glory and we just pray that we might get to see a glimpse of His grace in your life. We love when little nuggets of truth begin to take root in your hearts and we see little snapshots of sensitivity towards Jesus. There is no greater joy and one day we pray there will be no greater joy than to see you two walking in His ways as Christ followers! To that end each day we strive and we pray we never grow weary in pointing you to the Lord. We are slowly learning what it means to walk by faith and trust the One who gave us you two in the first place. To trust Him not only with your lives but with your eternal salvation. We could write forever and sing praises to the Lord for the great things He has done in your lives already! He has taken you from little three and four pound babies and brought you to thirty pound little girls who can run, jump, play, talk our ears off, give kisses, throw temper tantrums, love others, soak up new things and all the while allow us to weave the Gospel through your everyday lives. Lastly, no matter how far you try to run from Him in the days ahead or what the future may bring, our love for you will never change. You can count on an unchanging, steadfast love from mommy and daddy that we hope will always point you back to the ONE whose love truly is everlasting. Nothing can every separate you from His love. We love you Maddie Grace & Makenzie and we always will!! Happy 3rd birthday sweet, mischievous little ones!
Love, Mommy & Daddy
Last set of milestones/memories from 35-36 months (3 years old!):
-We hear a lot of…. “I love your singing mommy,”  “Mommy you're beautiful” :) “Jommas” (pajamas), “I like her/him mom,” “Don’t start without me,” “let’s go on a “venture” (adventure) with my “noculars” (binoculars), “ I’m hungry” (all day long!), “my songs please” “I don’t want to go to sleep” “that’s what he “dooz” (does) & “Why?!”-Both girls favorite thing ever to play with is all things babies/stuffed animals-they love dressing/undressing babies and using real baby stuff of Ashton Kate’s!
-They both dress themselves well (esp MG!) and make sure the tag is always in the back. They can also put on their flip flops which is so nice to have one less thing to do before we head out the door!
-Still love riding their tricycles in the cul-de-sac and playing “drive-thru” at Jim N Nicks, ChickFilA, and Starbucks! Makenzie prefers to ride in the Cozy coupe a lot of the time while MG almost always picks her bike!
-They play pretend with their babies ALL.DAY.LONG until they are forced to take naps or go to bed
-Maddie Grace is still amazing at puzzles and can quickly work a new one with very little help!
-Makenzie is still dramatic with any boo boo and loves to use band-aids to make them better-she will scream and scream if you try to give her a bath while she’s wearing a band-aid =)
-This month in particular, they have both gotten extra needy and want to receive equal attention: they love to be talked to, held, etc and if one gets it then the other says talk to me like you did Makenzie or hold me like you did Maddie Grace-we work really hard at giving equal love around here!
-Maddie Grace is in the throws of some SERIOUS temper tantrums and when corrected or disappointed by something, she will take off running and crying to find herself a hiding spot. This is definitely her coping mechanism and we will find her in all sorts of places just crying by herself, bless her heart! She’ll try to wedge herself behind any and everything to be hidden! And it takes her a long time to calm down. =(
-Makenzie’s new thing is to cop a little attitude with us, stomp her feed, and tell us no or scream when she doesn’t get her way-three’s are a beautiful thing I tell ya =) (this began about 2 weeks shy of turning 3-we want our sweet, obedient girl returned to us soon!)
-Maddie Grace loves singing and wants to know the name of every new song-both girls have now memorized quite a few worship songs and we will catch them singing them in the car, to their babies, or just walking around the house
-Makenzie is still our wild one! She is a little instigator and ring leader when it comes to mischievious things-Maddie Grace will follow but doesn’t usually come up with the ideas (at least that we know of yet!) She is also a little monkey and cannot sit still for long at all. She is ALWAYS MOVING….and swinging and climbing on the top of her rail on her bed doing different “tricks” as she calls them…she keeps us on our toes and laughing a lot too!
-Maddie Grace is still our little organizer-she likes things neat, orderly, and it really upsets her apple cart if she is told to stop doing what she’s doing to go take a nap or go to bed-she has a high need to finish the task she is working on first and have it “just right!” For a three year old, she can fold blankets up extremely well and put things neatly in stacks or lined up very straight and orderly. It’s quite unbelievable actually for her age!
-Both girls still love love love to read books and play games-they now know how to play candy land, memory, bingo, and hi-ho cherry oh!
-They really love when I play learning activities for them or we do arts and crafts (play school as we call it!) They know all their shapes and colors but we’re still working on letters and numbers. They both can count to at least 10, if not further and they can both color within the lines or boundaries on a coloring page (happened right at turning 3!)
-They love opening the pantry door all day long and begging for snacks which leads to many battles in explaining why they can’t have chocolate teddy grahams at 7:30am =0)
-Bedtime is still miserable-Makenzie being the worst. She still puts up quite a fight each night in going to sleep and wakes up multiple times a night. We will survive…we’ve survived for three years of this now! =) She especially likes to ask to go potty for the 18th time to drag it out even more nad will pitch a total fit if you don’t let her go (even to the point of wetting her panties) and she also loves to strip down naked and roll around at the door as well…toddlerhood!
-Nothing calms them down better than a 20 minute episode of Mickey, Dora, Doc McStuffins, or Daniel Tiger-this is how Mommy is able to sneak away to feed AK! They won’t move a muscle…usually!
-We had our first Family Movie Night and rented Frozen on 4/12-3 years old! And they loved it! Sat through the entire movie and enjoyed their treats and popcorn. =)
-Both of you can be very, very shy around new people and they mistakenly think that you are so "calm"-I quickly tell them to come to our house and once you warm up, you are wild little things! =)
-A few of their favorite foods lately: pancakes, bacon, eggs, any fruit for MG, frozen raspberries & mango/pineapple, applesauce cups, squeeze pouches, pistachios, peanuts, teensy fruits, cheese dip, and “abocado”-Makenzie likes for her plates and silverware to match if possible lately! She also takes forever and I mean forever to finish a meal and wiggles throughout the entire process (she also will chew a piece of chicken for 10+min!!)
-Last TWO big things this month: Maddie Grace took a tumble off the bar stool and had to have her lip glued at the doctor-was able to avoid stitches and she was SO BRAVE! And Makenzie gave up her paci’s a few days before turning three at her visit to the dentist! (3/28) She has done so well without them!
