Ashton Kate Currie,
I never grow tired of hearing your sweet name spoken. You are such a ray of sunshine in our lives and your little blossoming personality continues to endear us more and more to you with each passing day. You are the perfect mixture of your big sisters! You have the happy, spunky disposition mixed in with very easy-going and laid back, take you anywhere thrown in too! We couldn't ask for more out of baby #3 in the family! You make our lives easier for sure and it’s easy to take you anywhere as you rarely cause a fuss! We can’t believe you are 7 months old already! It seems like yesterday we were arriving at the hospital to welcome you into the world and now you are already a month closer to turning 1! It will be here before we know it! We are truly cherishing your first year of life as we know from being in this place before just how quickly it goes!! We know we will soon be chasing you all over the place! We are praying for your sweet little heart, longing for Jesus to cleanse you from your unrighteousness and clothe you in His. We pray your heart’s desire is to live for Him and give your life to the One who has given His for YOU! You are so precious to us and we love you so deeply! Hard to fathom a greater love than that! We praise Him for entrusting us with your life here on earth! We desperately pray He uses you to make His name known wherever He leads you sweet Ashton Kate! You make our hearts overflow with thankfulness for your life! And PS: could you please stop growing so fast!?
Love, Mommy & Daddy
Milestones & Memories from 6-7months:
-Laughs all the time-seriously happy baby 99.9% of the time and the twins can get you laughing better than anyone!-You took your first international trip and first plane ride to Costa Rica with Mommy & Daddy for 4 nights from 5/16- 5/20-You took your first dip in a pool (or hot springs shall we say!) on 5/17
-Enjoyed your first baby mum mum on 5/18 and LOVED it! Can eat both of them with no problem for an afternoon snack =) -First swim in real pool at the Hyatt resort in Papagaya, Costa Rica on 5/19-our little water bug! -First toes in the sand beach experience-in Costa Rica on 5/19-you were so so about it. You definitely seemed to prefer the pool over the beach for sure! -Apparently you are not a big fan of getting hot (but really who likes it, right??) You got pretty hot during a couple of our dinners in Costa Rica
and would fuss-as soon we blew cool air on you, you would light up with a huge smile! We don’t blame you for being uncomfortable!
-You are a super curious babe-you love to take in all your surroundings, crane your neck so you can get a complete look at everything going on, and you reach and pull to get anything in your hands to inspect!
-Seriously our JOY! You one happy, content, joyful baby for the majority of the day and you play beautifully by yourself! You LIGHT up when you hear your name or someone paying you any attention!
-Slept unswaddled for the first night on 5/21-did well at night…but naptime was a different story. For a solid week, you screamed for upwards of 45min to an hour before you MIGHT fall asleep for about 20-30 min. To say you hate being unswaddled would be an understatement. After you rolled over we decided we would go back to one arm out but the rest of you swaddled to re-gain some sanity for you and for us! =)
-Went back to one arm swaddled 5/27 after a week of virtually no naps at all and incessant screaming and you’ve been back to your happy, normal self!
-You LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your sisters and you love when they entertain you and make you laugh! Such a precious relationship already!
-You have started crying when mommy leaves the room and you realize you have been left =(
-Yay! You are now able to roll from back to stomach (when you want to of course!) as of 5/31-you did it twice before we left for Atlanta so now mommy can rest easy keeping you swaddled for now! =)
-Just started banging two toys/cups together loudly and it brings you such delight!
-You enjoy playing peek-a-boo and will giggle when mommy uncovers her eyes!
-You’ve reached that stage where you enjoy the tags on things!
-Still in the “I love sucking on my toes” phase =) such a flexible little babe!
-Still no visible teeth, but a drooling machine & love chewing on a cold teething ring!
-You break into the biggest smile when you spot Daddy!
-It didn’t take you long to catch on to the whole sitting up thing! You were doing it quite well right at 6 months and now at 7 months you are much more stable and although we still prop pillows behind you so you don’t face plant, you rarely fall over these days!
-Lastly, you can make a full circle spinning around on the floor and scooting to reach certain toys. While you’re not crawling, you definitely have begun moving from the spot we first put you in!

May Fun (2014) with the Kiddos!

Each month holds so many fun memories for us as a family! In an effort to not forget any, here they are for the month of May:

1. Pulling out the water table for the first time! Maddie Grace & Makenzie love playing with their neighbor friend Tommy! And we're really enjoying the beginning of warm enough weather to enjoy water!

2. When we lived at the apartment, we frequently went to feed the ducks! Ever since we moved to the new house, I had been promising the girls we would make a trip back and see the old "house" and feed the ducks so that's just what we did!

3. We planned an evening as a family to go eat dinner on Auburn's campus while the students weren't back for summer classes yet! (makes it pretty quiet!) Before heading to grab some food, we swung by the Athletic Offices to take a quick tour of "Mr. Will's" new office! We're so excited to have good friends joining us in Auburn in just a few months!
We love pretty nights in Auburn and we most definitely love us some Chick-Fil-A in our family!

4. Shaved Ice!? Umm yes please! Our girls weren't sure what it was but it's safe to say they were huge fans and the bouncy house they had set up added an extra treat! They had a ball and we loved getting out of the house together and making another memory!

5. The twins are greatly anticipating the arrival of some of our dearest friends, The Edwards Family! They came down to Auburn for the day and spent the night with us! We loved having them here! From picnicking on Samford's campus with turkey wraps to grilling out at home and letting the kids run around, we had such a wonderful time reminiscing on old times and catching up on each other's lives! We miss them dearly!

Celebrating Aubie's Birthday!

Some friends of ours had invited our family to take part in a little photo shoot for the Aubie calendar & even though we had just gotten back in town from Costa Rica the day before, we didn't want to pass up an opportunity for the girls to have some fun seeing Aubie. (or so we thought!=) Now that it's over, I'm certainly re-thinking all the effort that went into getting three little ones dressed in their orange and blue attire, hair done, shoes on, bows in, and all safely into the car in 90+ degree weather...not to mention the fact that we had to wake them up early from naps. Sigh. But it's hard for this momma to miss out on any unique experiences so we went with it. Glad we did it. But we apologize to the Auburn community on behalf of our family that they will now have to spend a whole month looking at our two bumps on a log who were less than thrilled to be there and were once again terrified by Aubie. No amount of bribing with treats could get them to smile for the camera...until right before we were about to leave and Aubie was willing to do family shots. Selfishly thankful to capture just one cute one of the kiddos but still hate it for the calendar fundrasier! Kids, kids, kids...not predictable that's for sure!

The only predictable one was the babe who wasn't old enough to sit up for any pics quite yet!
And the party is about to begin...
Look at those enthusiastic children front and center! =)
The goal was to wave your shakers and go wild! Thinking the Currie kids missed the memo...
Maybe the marketing team will choose this one and you won't notice the non-smiling kids! =)
Even with the bribing it was difficult to get them both smiling AND looking...

Just ONE...makes photoshoots easy!

Costa Rica with the Littlest Currie!

Amazingly blessed to be married to an incredible man who happens to love traveling. A. LOT. Even more blessed to have a husband who lovingly lays down so many of his own desires for the desires of his children and his wife.. A husband who sacrifices any and all alone time to help carry the responsibility of raising up little lovers of Jesus and showing them what it means to follow Christ and love others. But with all of this pouring out of yourself comes a weariness of the day in and day out of loving three littles well. Insert needed rest, relaxation, rejuvenation, and a renewed sense of purpose as we strive to point our children to Christ. And this trip away was just what we needed in this extremely tiring season of life we're in right now! Our four nights away in Costa Rica were such a special time to have some one-on-one time with the youngest Currie girl. And boy did she seem to love her time to be doted on just as much. She's not used to that kind of attention-I can assure you of that! =) If there's one thing we left Costa Rica with, it was the feeling of we KNOW this little girl. We KNOW her sweet little self so much more than we did in the States with twins who require just a tad bit more from us than she does...=) We will always cherish our time as husband and wife but even more so, we will savor the precious days with Ashton Kate!

Waking up so early is hard for all the Currie's except Makenzie...=)
We made it to the Atlanta airport! A bit easier to travel with one baby vs. two!
Sweet girl on her first airplane ride! Perfect for the whole flight!
After a drive to the airport, waiting at the airport, a four hour flight, a trip to Walmart due to lost luggage, waiting for a rental car, and driving two more hours, this sweet punkin' was THRILLED to be free from the dreaded car seat! Seriously a little doll! =)
Everyone slept wonderfully and we were excited to enjoy our first day at the Springs resort!
Loved our breakfast brunch while Ashton Kate enjoyed her toys and a cool breeze....we now understand the meaning of a laid-back baby!

The views of the volcano were beautiful and the main reason we splurged to stay here at the hot springs...
Not sure it gets cuter than this...love giving all our attention to her for a few days!
First vacation with a baby...so far so good! And added bonus is there are two adults for one child..fun to experience that ratio of adults to kids!
The hot springs aren't a bad place for a baby to enjoy her first dip in a "pool!"
We figured if her love for bathtime was any indication of her love for a pool, we'd be in good shape! Turns out we were right! Happy girl!

Little poolside snack of sweet potatoes...
Ashton Kate...you sure do know how to win some hearts! You have everyone at the resort captivated by your cuteness!
Our almost 7 month old enjoying her first international trip!
Beautiful, sunshiny day!
All three of us loved our time in the hot springs and we're so thankful for great weather!
You do what ya gotta do to have a clean baby! =)
A view from the top of the resort
Simply gorgeous surroundings!
Too tired to take a picture the first night, so we made sure to at least snap one the second. Ashton Kate, your dad was quite paranoid as we sat down to our white tablecloth, candlelight dinner with a baby, but if there was a baby to do it with, you were it! Angel baby!
Another day to enjoy being outside..and we've learned you're quite a fan of the outdoors!

Spent the morning at the pool and then got showered to head on to the next stop on our journey!
Sweet, sweet memories already!
A last lunch at the Springs before heading to the beaches...and little miss enjoyed her first mum mum!

Daddy loves you so much Ashton Kate!

We've arrived at our next and last stop on this trip: the Hyatt! Brand new property, great service, beautiful views....yep we're pretty excited and so are you as you sport your little hat they left for you!
We used to think getting good pictures of our children was impossible. Then we realized it was the whole getting TWO to smile and cooperate at the same time that was the problem. You my dear are easy peasy to capture some cuteness of!
Favorite time of the day for sure! Getting ready to head to dinner as the sun is setting!
Absolutely gorgeous property! If accounting ever lets Kendall down, travel planning will be his next career choice...=)
His picks of hotels and vacation spots never disappoints!
Couldn't have asked for better weather!
Smitten over this cutie pie!
We love you so much Ashton Kate! You have filled our days with joy since the day you were born!

About to dip Ashton Kate's toes in the sand for the first time..we shall see!
Well...not too sure what this stuff is that's tickling my toes...says AK
Check that off the list and now let's get to the pool!
We sure could get used to this life...at least for a little while longer!
Another shot of the beautiful resort!
A little mommy/Ashton Kate time and loving every minute of it!
Loved our vacation with the three of us but now we're excited to get home and see the other two precious girls we've been entrusted with! We've missed you Maddie Grace and Makenzie! Thankful for a wonderful trip to Costa Rica! And now Ashton Kate...you're officially a Currie after getting your first stamp in your passport! =)
