Ashton Kate's 13 Month Update

Ashton Kate,
Boy oh boy do you keep us on our toes? You are the cutest lil’ stinker in the world! Truly our days are much brighter with you a part of them, but we are in that stage with you where we literally can’t take our eyes off of you for one second. Good thing we have a couple extra sets of eyes helping look out for you! And oh do they. Not always the most gentle, but they sure are great momma bears to you! Your sisters think you hung the moon. They protect you, play with you, love on you, want to hold you, snuggle you, and simply be with you when you’re awake. They can’t stand when we put you down for nap and they haven’t gotten to tell you night night! And the feeling is mutual. You look lost if you are brought down the stairs and aren’t greeted with their sheer delight! You will look around the room for them and look so sad if your playmates are missing! Daddy and I are so thankful for the sweet relationship you three already have. We are praying you always feel loved and accepted by your older sisters, but way more than that from your Jesus. He will be your rock. He will always love you. He will never leave you. Your worth is in Him. Your satisfaction and validation should always be in Him. We hope and pray we lead you well so those things are so true in your life. We want you to treasure Him above all. He is worth it. We can’t believe you are 13 months already! You’re growing up right before our eyes WAY TOO FAST! As thankful as we are that you keep learning and growing, a piece of our hearts is so saddened that the baby stage of you is coming to an end! So grateful you’re our daughter. We love you more than words can say!
Love, Mommy & Daddy
Milestone and Memories from 12-13months:
-Still the same ole same ole for your schedule these days. You typically go down around 7:30/8 at the latest and you sleep til around 7:30ish as well (close to 12 hours every night) and you rarely wake up in between! You take two naps if we’re home or a super long one if we have something in the morning. If that’s the case, you go down right after lunch around 12:30 and you will often sleep close to 4 hours! It’s insane but not complaining a bit!
-You still get 4 bottles a day (around 4-5oz each)-we’ve started introducing the sippy cup some in place of the afternoon bottle but not consistently yet. And while I thought we would be done nursing at a year, we have officially let it linger until 13months. I think we are done as of a few days past 13months. It sure has been sweet and it’s bittersweet for that season to be over already. However, the freedom will be wonderful. So thankful that the Lord allowed mommy to nurse/pump for a full year for your nourishment!
-Still a FANTASTIC eater! Cannot complain a bit. You eat what is put in front of you almost every single time. On the rare occasion you’re not a huge fan of something, you just pick ever so carefully around it and eat everything else. But truthfully, you’ve been the best eater as a baby we’ve ever had!
-Still not walking yet, but getting oh so close! You have taken several steps a few different times but then you drop to the ground and take off crawling. I get it-it’s way faster that way, but I have a feeling once you discover and get the hang of walking you will take off quickly! We’re not rushing you that’s for sure!
-CLIMBER…that’s what I think when I think of you at this stage! You climb on any and everything and up rather high! You make mommy a nervous wreck when I turn around and see you standing on top of the picnic table, the slide, the banister going up the stairs, or even making it to the middle landing on the stairs and you do it fast! You are one determined little cookie and you hate to be taken down from what you just accomplished!
-The other thing that stands out over this past month is that as soon as a “closed” door becomes open, you’re there! You don’t waste a second seizing the opportunity to explore a forbidden area! You are there in a heartbeat and you squeal when you have to be removed…poor baby!
-Because you have older sisters, it seems you have matured in a few areas way faster than they ever did. Specifically with baby dolls, it’s amazing to watch you nurture them. It’s like you’ve seen it done before =) You will rock them, love on them, feed them, and lay them in the crib and you do it pretty well. Such a little mother already and that simply is astounding to me to watch that at a year old.
-You’re a wild little girl! Again, probably because your sisters love to rough house with you and climb in the crib with you and bounce like crazy. But you already know how to jump and down in your crib and laugh hysterically + jump on the mattress that they have slid under their bed. You love doing just what they do-including gymnastics moves. It’s hysterical to watch you attempt to do a handstand as a baby! But you copy their every move.
-Not a fan of loud noises anymore such as the blender, vacuum, or when we talk to you over the monitor. It will send you into sobbing mode instantly…=(
-You absolutely LOVE being outside and playing with your riding toys and cozy coupe! It can keep you occupied for a while-but again just can’t take our eyes off of you because you are a little dare devil! You will stand up on the seat and lean your head out the little window! You also love playing in the backyard in the sandbox, the little play house, and climbing up and down the slide!
-Still difficult to get you to sit still for more than a minute, but if we are reading, your books of choice for a few minutes are animal books and textured ones. Hands down, those are your favorite!
-Important dates this month: 11/12-drank from your sippy cup instead of your bottle for your afternoon feeding; 11/16-we moved you into your new carseat; 11/17-You took your very 1st step! 11/23-Signed please for more yogurt melts and have done it well since & also had your first taste of whole milk; 11/24-discovered the fun of unrolling toilet paper; 11/28-took TWO more steps unassisted two different times; 11/29-your top right incisor tooth broke through; 12/3-pumped milk for you for the last time & 12/4-nursed you for the last time! (a few days past 13months!)

Finishing out Football Season...November Games!

Here are the highlights from the last month of Auburn football! Sure has been a fun ride, despite a tough month of losses for our favorite tigers! Win or lose, we will always love Auburn!  We believe in Auburn and love it...=) What an enjoyable year full of lots of friends, family, and fun with our little girls! Loved being Hotel Currie and having a place/home to gather everyone in for the weekend! Thankful our girls were old enough this year to know what was going on and take it all in! They even each got to enjoy their own date with daddy to the game! That's a win all on its own!
For the Texas A & M game, Mimi and Grandpa were gracious enough to come in town Friday and keep the girlies while we attended a wedding shower! Thankful for the best babysitters in town! =) I tagged along with them to Jim N Nicks with the girls before we headed out for the evening. They all did great and their bellies were full of cheese biscuits! The night will now be complete as long as a round of hide and seek is involved!
Well, we almost made it all through the season without sick babies. But sadly, last night Ashton Kate was up ALL NIGHT coughing and laboring in her breathing. We debated taking her to the ER but opted to stay up with her and watch her and just take her in to the pediatrician in the morning. We took her first thing Saturday morning and discovered she had croup. Poor baby sounded awful and would have trouble breathing every time she started coughing and crying. They put her on a steroid to open up her passageway and that helped tremendously. So anyways, that ruled her out for obvious reasons so daddy stayed home with her while mommy took the twins to tailgate. By lunchtime Ashton Kate was feeling a lot better and able to play and move about so Nana and G-Dad kept their original plan of keeping the kids so Kendall could make it to the game too. Everyone did well and although we didn't sit together, we both had fun!
I'll admit that it felt rather easy to have just TWO kids to look out for today! And two that can walk and semi-take care of themselves a smidge...=)
And they even allowed me to visit with an old college roomie while they were busy doing this...pure sweetness! Sure do love these two!
And for the last season of the game, we once again got decked out in our best orange and blue attire (thanks to Mimi & Grandpa outfitting our children!) for the Auburn/Samford game and snapped a few pics on the front lawn! I could kick myself for not snapping a picture with our dear friends James & Debi who joined us for this game! We loved spending time with them as always and the girls ate up every ounce of attention from their grandkids! What a fun-filled weekend it was! We kicked off the weekend with an awesome meal at Acre with the entire family to celebrate mine and Dad's birthday! Delicious food, more laughs than I can count, and a full heart from time with siblings and parents! And came home to three sleeping babes...thank you sweet babysitters!

Here's to the last game of the season!
A lil' Auntie love!
The girls will surely miss all the company we've had week in and week out! They've grown accustomed to waking up and asking where are we going today and who are we going to play with? =)
Come on tigers! Pull out a win for us today!
Sure are thankful for the sweet relationship the girls have with my sisters!
Getting a little "mommy love" as the girls say...=)
And today's daddy daughter football date goes to none other than...Maddie Grace Currie! And boy was she excited as she waved goodbye to the rest of us and headed off with daddy to the stadium!

She needed a little pick me up from the rain and the cold! Looks like popcorn did the trick!
Little Miss Independent! =)
Such sweetness to have ALL of daddy's attention...MG sure does love her daddy time and asking him questions left and right...=)
Let's give this girl a high-five! She made it through the entire game so she could go down on the field afterwards. The girl had her eye on the prize...and wouldn't stop short of it. =)
Goodness! I could melt over this again and again...thankful for the love she receives from her daddy!
I think it's bedtime...pushing 10 o'clock or later...we're gonna have one tired girl but so worth the memories!!
Perfect ending to a fun season! Posing for a few pictures...think this concludes the season and the night...she's reaching the delirious stage!
UNTIL NEXT SEASON...WAR EAGLE!

Family Fun Day!

When we woke up for the second Sunday in a row with sick kiddos still, we decided we HAD to get out of the house and get some fresh air. After each taking a turn to go to church, we headed out right after lunch and headed to Montgomery for some family fun! Hard to say who was more excited...mommy or the twins!? Tough going so long without seeing any friends or leaving these four walls so this was just what we needed as a family! As we were loading the car, we decided this would be a good time to move Ashton Kate into her new big girl car seat! Milestones like this are a little bittersweet as they mean she is growing up! But also serve as a reminder of God's continued mercy and grace in her growth and development.
Not sure she's a fan just yet, but it'll do. Off we go to the Montgomery Zoo! You can't pass germs outside, right!?
This was our first trip to the Montgomery Zoo with our entire family. Mommy has taken the girls quite a few times and daddy even ventured there once by himself, but it sure was fun to all be together this trip! It was overcast, perfect temperature, and hardly a soul there. Perfect for this bunch!
This zoo is perfect for little ones as the exhibits are smaller and the animals are usually much closer up for viewing. They are always moving and active when we've been there which makes it a million times more exciting for the girls! This guy in particular was quite entertaining this trip around..
And this sweet girl enjoyed having an extra set of hands which allowed her to get out of the stroller or ergo and see the animals too! She LOVES animals so it was so fun seeing her squeal with delight and her legs start rapidly swinging with excitement!
And of course no zoo trip is complete without a ride on the train...never gets old and is a nice little break for mom and dad too!
And since we said this was family fun day, the fun didn't stop after we left the zoo. We re-introduced the girls to the sheer deliciousness of Krispy Kreme! And boy did they love it! Down to the last sprinkle..=)
Lastly, after spoiling their dinner with a donut, we headed to Applebee's to use a gift card we had held onto forever! Perfect time to use it! The girls all did great and we enjoyed one last "activity" as the girls say before we headed home!
What a wonderful afternoon we had as a family! A treat indeed and we know we surely will cherish these memories in the years to come!

Celebrating AK's 1st Birthday-Pancakes & Pajamas Style!

Oh HAPPY Day! Today we get to celebrate the graciousness of God over the past year on our sweet, adorable Ashton Kate! We have a ONE year old and that calls for a big celebration. And celebrate we did! Her big sisters were especially excited to have a party for her. =) Oh the love they have for her. The love her mommy and daddy have for her. But OH the love Jesus has for her. That she would know that truth soon. We are so grateful for her life and anxiously pray that the Lord would use her for the advancement of His kingdom. That her heart would be drawn to Him early and that He would use her life to spread His name to the ends of the earth. Oh little one, we have so much hope for your life!
