3 Months Already!

Dear Maddie Grace and Makenzie,
Wow, have you grown since the day you were born and wow, have you captured our hearts or what! You both are incredibly precious to us and it’s hard to fathom you are 3 months old already! It seems like just yesterday you made your appearance into this world and changed our lives forever! You both are soooo cute to us and we are “those” parents who just stare at you and marvel at every adorable thing you do and each new milestone in your lives and it’s only been a couple months. You both started smiling A LOT this month and you began that within a day of each other so that was incredibly fun! Now we greatly look forward to your endearing looks and smiles you give us each day. Some things we have started doing together is praying as a family. Your daddy and I want you to see that evident in our lives and so each night we pray for you girls as we lay you down to sleep. Mommy also prays aloud for you and with you to model that throughout the day while you are eating =) Mommy also tries to read from your little storybook Bible every day and that is definitely a highlight of the day. Makenzie, you have slept through a good bit of it while Maddie Grace you are very intent on staring at what seems like the pictures but who knows! All I know is it’s never too early to start learning the story of God’s redemption in our lives! We pray for your hearts so much and pray and long for the day when your eyes will be opened for your need for a Savior! We hope we can point you to the cross and Lord daily in everything we do. What a humbling task it is for us as your parents but we are so grateful for that privilege and responsibility.

So what are we up to these days?
• Maddie Grace weighs in right around 10 lbs while Makenzie is still a pound lighter at 9lbs! Gaining great weight and that makes us so thankful!
• You both eat like champs most of the time and usually take about 4 oz per feeding eating about 6 times a day (one still being in the middle of the night!) We look forward to you sleeping through the night, but you are both making tremendous improvement!
• You usually go down for bed anywhere from 10:30-12:30 at night and then we feed you around 3-4am and then sleep again until 7 or 8. The nights have gotten so much better since we moved you all to your cribs. The crib sleeping began by default when the air conditioning went out and we all slept down in the baby room together! At the beginning of this month, MG was still sleeping in the nap nanny and Makenzie had been sleeping in her car seat to help with the reflux. Still have had some tough nights of sleep in the crib, but all in all, HUGE leaps and bounds!
• We don’t have a schedule per se during the day other than feeding every 3 hours-I try to put you down for one nap in the crib but other than that you both usually dictate your play/sleep time during the day.
• Well, we have gotten out a lot-Mommy usually tries to take you at least on one outing per day and you girls usually do great! Of course, our window is short knowing we won’t have long before feeding time starts again but nonetheless it is great to get out! We have gone all over Birmingham and have enjoyed meeting friends for lunch and going grocery shopping together!
• We also have traveled out of town almost every weekend! You both do great in your car seats and it’s a great chance for mommy and daddy to catch up on talking since you both fall fast asleep usually!
• Makenzie is still our little snuggler! She loves to be held close, have your hand on her, or a little lovey up by her sweet face. That usually does the trick of putting her to sleep! She also appears to be a little afraid of being alone or in the dark. Her eyes get so wide eyed when we head down to the nursery at night. Makenzie smiles all the time and has been since around 11 weeks!
• Maddie Grace is still a very content and patient baby unless she is hungry or needs a diaper change! She is such an easy baby and smiles when she is fed and content! She is such a curious baby and we catch her looking all around whenever we are in a new environment. She is always taking everything in and figuring out her surroundings!
• Both of you have begun “talking” to us-we love to hear your cooing and all the noises you make when trying to communicate
• You both find your thumb if you can’t find your paci’s. Makenzie loves her thumb a lot more than MG though
• You both got your first colds right at 3 months-Maddie Grace’s cleared up quicker than Makenzie’s. Makenzie ended up a little more sick with diarrhea and a lack of appetite =)
We love you both more than words can say and are so thankful the Lord has entrusted the task of parenting to us. We couldn’t be more blessed than to have you girls in our lives and we pray we make the most of every moment we have with you both! Thank you for the things you are teaching us about the way God loves us. It sure has changed our perspectives and we are eternally thankful for that! We love you both so much and I love being your mom!
