Put a Little South in Your Mouth

Keeping up with our trend of not having a single free weekend since the day the girls were born, we headed out of town AGAIN (quite possibly our 6th rental car this summer-that's another story!)to Charleston and Savannah. One of my childhood friends who I grew up with in the same neighborhood finally tied the knot at the beach in Kiawah so we had a blast reuniting with the Coventry Green group! =) We decided to extend our mini vacay a few days to make it worth the long drive and stopped through Savannah and spent two nights there. This was our first "just us" as a family trip and boy did we have a ball! No schedule or agenda, just enjoying our precious girls and making memories as a family. We truly had the best time and managed to squeeze in quite a few yummy meals and some strolls through the downtown/historic areas of Savannah. What an adorable city that I am thankful we had the opportunity to visit! Some of the highlights of the trip included seeing old friends, dinner at Hominy Grill, walking along the waterfront in Charleston, our surprise buffet meal at Paula Deen's Lady & Sons restaurant, our walk through Forsyth Park, playing with the girls in the hotel rooms, eating pizza at Vinnie Van Go Go's, Leopold's homemade ice cream, and grabbin' take-out at Zunzi's (biggest sandwiches I have EVER laid eyes on!) and the the lowlight of the trip being-having two blow-out diapers on the car ride =( Guess it's part of the experience! Have you ever noticed there is no changing table in the men's restroom? What makes them think the mom wants to ALWAYS take care of that mess!?! =) All in all though we were soo grateful that the girls did so awesome in the car! We only had to stop twice to feed them and we were back on the road in no time. Savannah and Charleston? You were good to us and we hope to return sometime in the future! Another adventure checked off the list with our girls-we'll see what's next!!

Graduation in Auburn

Despite the blazing heat, we ventured back to one of the places that holds so many dear memories to see my baby sister graduate! Graduate college? Seriously, where has time gone??!! About a year ago, she began to voice her desire to be an aunt. I kept reminding her that our brother, who is also married, was older and she could pester him first. =) So back in September of last year when we surprised her and told her we were pregnant with twins, Kendall told her we were granting her her graduation present! Fast forward almost a year and there she sat proudly at the Auburn University sign with her twin nieces who I might add looked pretty precious in all decked out in their Auburn attire! We had a great time celebrating with her and enjoyed a nice dinner at Warehouse Bistro. Let's just hope our babies didn't disturb anyone else's nice dinner!

4 Months Old!

Dear sweet little Maddie Grace and precious Makenzie,
Your daddy and I cannot believe you are 4 months old already! Where has time gone?!? All we know is that with each passing day, we fall more in love with you girls and find ourselves wondering what life was like before you two precious girls came along! (we actually do remember =) You are growing and changing so much now, it seems like every day you are doing something new! We are loving seeing your personalities begin to blossom and know that those too will be so much fun to watch develop! You both have come so far and we stare at you both and wonder where our little 3 and 4 lb babies have gone now that you are weighing in at 11 and 12 pounds! This has been such a FUN month to see all the new things you are learning to do. You both are cooing nad talking up a storm, especially Makenzie! You laugh and smile all day long as long as your tummy is full and not hurting. Maddie Grace, you smile when you are done eating. You sure won’t stop to give us a smile during feeding time and you have us cracking up as you guard your territory while nursing! =) You both are now standing up when we hold you under the arms and you have just started to reach for objects and pull and hold onto things. Makenzie you are definitely are active, spunky baby! You have quite the little personality, good and bad and we call you our little jumping bean! Maddie Grace, you are just as precious as ever with your laid back and content demeanor! We love you both more than words can say and our hearts ache when we are away from you (we spent our first night away from you close to your 4 month bday!) and it made us miss you so much! You also spent several days away from daddy which made him anxious to see your precious faces again! We love having you in our lives and each day we feel honored and privileged to be your parents. We want you to know early on that we won’t be perfect and we know we will fail you, but we pray with God’s grace, that He will lead us, direct us and give us wisdom as we seek to show you what it means to love the Lord with all your hearts! We hope and pray we model that for you girls and that you always see Christ in us. We want our family to be one that does not live for this world but rather with eternity in mind. We are praying for you girls and love being your mommy and daddy! You make us smile every day and fill our hearts with an indescribably happiness! We can’t believe you are 4 months old today!
Love, Mommy and Daddy

Wrightsville Beach

This past weekend, we did the unthinkable, at least in the world of having twins. We embarked on a car trip of over 8 hours with two babies because I couldn't bring myself to miss the annual extended family beach trip! (with 26 ppl under one roof-fun fun!!) So after making my packing list and checking it for what seemed like the thousandth time, we began our first car trip without Kendall and made it to Atlanta to spend one night before heading out the next morning! My dad was such a trooper and offered to drive myself, the girls and my sister Sarah to the beach. (Kendall had to work so he flew to the beach and met us there=) So the next morning at the crack of dawn after feeding the girls, I issued military orders to get in the car immediately as the clock begins ticking after the last drop of milk is put in their mouth before it would be time to do it all over again! Out the door before 7am and surprisingly enough the girls did INCREDIBLE!!! We made it all the way with just 2 stops to feed the babies and get gas/food and other than my traveling companions were kindly asked to hold it if a bathroom stop was necessary =) We couldn't afford to lose any time when traveling with twins! We did spend a lot of time in our little room feeding babies and decided next year would be a WHOLE lot easier in a lot of ways, but we sure did enjoy spending time with family and cousins that we don't get to see very often! Family time is definitely hard to come by so we cherished each day we had and enjoyed the food and fellowship that came with it immensely!

Enjoying time as a family making memories!
