What new things you girls have done this month!? (from 29-30mo)
What new things you girls have done this month!? (from 29-30mo)
-Potty training went superb!! We couldn’t have asked for
better. Makenzie rarely has an accident and MG will drizzle in her panties but
will still hold most of it for the potty; both in the last two weeks have
stayed dry at naptime and bedtime! Huge progress so all in all we feel like
they have done so well! Now if we can just get MG to tell us when she needs to
go instead of letting a little out we’ll be good to go!
-Phrases we still hear a lot of lately: “I watch a movie…”
(MG) “I watch nother one…just one more” “I tickle you” “wet willy me” “I don’t
need to go potty, I just checkin…” “what color is this, what’s this about
everything” (Mak) “I’m fixin to…” (Mak) “two monies, two blankies” (MG) “I play games mommy,” “oh my goodness” “don’t
get me!” “I’m just playin…” (MG) "I check on sissy..." "it's dart...(dark)" “War Eagle, hey!” “Scuse me!”
-The girls talk nonstop and even more now to each other and
to their babies. They will have full out conversations which I just love
listening to and laughing! So entertaining!
-One thing that has emerged this month and maybe the end of
the last is their ability to play so well by themselves! They have gotten so
creative and will play for over an hour together-gathering toys and chairs and
books and play pretend with their babies and each other! LOVE seeing this!
-Favorite things to play right now: babies/car-taking their
babies to the grocery store and using a million grocery bags to empty out their
kitchen food into! Still love reading books and working puzzles, playing with
the puppy and taking him for walks, anything involving their babies, love doing
crafts/coloring/play dough at their little table, love watching movies, love
going to the park
-Bedtime/Nighttime has been EXTREMELY tough this
month-Makenzie is waking up as many as 6 times a night with a minimum of
usually 3 times and is refusing to be put back in bed. She wants only mommy and
she wants to be rocked which has led to many sleepless nights, a frustrated
mommy and daddy, and occasionally two screaming toddlers after she wakes up
Maddie Grace. It’s also been tough getting them to go to sleep-we usually have
to sit in the chair every night until they fall asleep, while dodging their
thousands of requests for one more hug/kiss, need to go potty, can’t see
nightlight, need two blankies on again, music on, too dark, etc L
Tiring, tiring…but we will survive!
-Both LOVE getting princess rides to bed from daddy and
playing chase with him when he gets home from work! They prefer mommy to do the
teeth brushing, take them to the potty, etc but daddy can do the fun stuff!
-Maddie Grace is still attached big time to having “two
monies” and “two blankies” over her at night. One is not sufficient at this
point. She will put one corner of the bunny up to her nose and then rub another
bunny foot corner simultaneously. Makenzie still requests two pacis but at
least she is down to just having them at naptime and bedtime. Don’t know how we
will ever part with them!
-Favorite song to sing before bedtime is Father Abraham and
they ask for it every.single.night! They also love when we sing “You are my
sunshine” before bed!
-Have gotten really good at reciting their two “Bible
berses…”-time to teach them some more!
-Tailgating each week for football games: Mak despises it
and begins pitching temper tantrums before we ever leave the apartment and
Maddie Grace seems to really love it. Mak is deathly afraid of Aubie and will
start saying “I don’t wanna see Aubie” as soon as she realizes where we’re
about to go…on the other hand, MG can’t get enough of him! So different!
-Makenzie also is developing some other random "fears" such as flags (up high on a flag pole), most recently her bedroom she said, bugs, feeding the ducks, she is very timid doing a lot of new things and will want to be held the whole time until she sees Maddie Grace having fun!

-started doing mommy “school” with them this month and boy
do they love it! Let’s hope we can find the time to keep it up because they
like the structure, the excitement, the crafts and glue sticks esp! &
special time with mommy!
-Both are extremely motherly and will rock their babies,
talk to them like they are real and act just like mommies-feeding them,
comforting them, etc but Makenzie takes it one step further and will re-enact
bedtime routines, will talk to her baby like we talk to her about being scared
at night and will call them affectionate names like sweet pea, sugar plum,
darling, sweetheart, pumpkin, lovey (obviously ones we’ve said to her!) &
will pray with them before eating and bedtime-it’s extremely precious!
-Both talk about mommy’s baby in her tummy and will often
say they have one too, ha! Makenzie is way more interested in talking to her
and feeling her kick and move & she loves blowing raspberries on my stomach
to “wake her up!” She requests to touch her every day and MG is a lot less
amused by it at this point. Makenzie loves seeing baby clothes and gear for
Ashton Kate & if there was any way for her to squeeze her body into it,
she’d be wearing it! They love getting in her baby car seat and stroller-let’s
hope they love her this much when she actually comes!
-Mommy still has to work overtime to get them to eat a full
meal! Maybe one day this will change, when I don’t have the time to bribe and
coax them to take a bite! They rarely sit in their high chairs and they wiggle ALL over the chairs and look like monkeys-still trying to work on them sitting still! They are really into smoothies and helping mommy make
them. At least I can pack in a lot of nutrients into them!
-Love checking out new books from the library and reading them
throughout the week over and over and over again =)
-they wake up each morning requesting to watch “Dora!” I
watch movie while I eat breakfast is the usually the first words out of Maddie
Grace’s mouth each morning.
-Maddie Grace can be very stubborn and hard headed when she
doesn’t get what she wants. We’re still working on not running to the corner
screaming and instead asking in a big girl voice for what she wants. Makenzie
doesn’t have many tantrums unless you take away her pacis or in the middle of
the night when she wants mommy instead of daddy.
-When playing together, Makenzie is usually quite the
peacemaker and will share/give up what she has to make Maddie Grace happy which
is so precious to see but probably not always the best for MG
-Maddie Grace is still very meticulous and likes things nice and orderly and lined up “just right”-I think Makenzie could care less =) Maddie
Grace loves working a harder puzzle and will stick with it until she figures it
out! Love seeing her persistence!
-Makenzie will help you do just about anything and is a
great cleaner upper! We’re working on Maddie Grace helping more which in the past
week has gone really well!
-Maddie Grace is our independent one who likes to do things all by herself-whether it's the potty, getting dressed, or just walking up the stairs (she will often go the "other" way just so she can be different than you!) Makenzie is totally fine being quite needy and dependent on us, more like smothering us with affection and also requests! =)
