Ashton Kate's Arrival Into the World!

"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." Psalm 139:14

We stand in awe of the miracle of life. The miracle of NEW life. The handiwork of God as Creator. And today especially, we praise Him for our precious new one that He so perfectly knit together! She's here. She's healthy. She's everything we could have hoped and prayed for and so much more!

Introducing the newest member of the Currie family: Miss Ashton Kate Currie
Born at 1:19PM on October 30, 2013 and weighing in at 6 lbs 13 oz.

Obviously we are biased, but she truly is perfect. We just want to humbly thank the Lord for His goodness and grace in our lives in granting us another little girl to love and nurture. We pray that He grants us great grace in the days and months and even years ahead as we strive to point her to the Lord in all things. And our prayer is that along the way, as we parent her not by our own strength but by His alone, that He would sanctify our hearts in the process, drawing us closer to Him as a result! We pray that the One who granted her life would get great honor and praise from her precious life! We love you Ashton Kate and are so thankful you are a part of our lives!
And as a side note, what a difference one baby makes. This experience of giving birth to just one little one was unbelievably different and for the better! I was actually able to enjoy the entire day and be a part of the process! We are so thankful that all went more than smoothly and as routine as you could imagine. I was induced that Wednesday morning, October 30th around 7:30/8ish and by 12:30 was ready to bring this baby into the world! It went very quickly (much quicker than the doctors & nurses anticipated) and before we knew it, she was here! She has been a true joy so far and Kendall and I thoroughly enjoyed and soaked up our time with just Ashton Kate and all the friends we have misses since we moved from Birmingham.
The twins also exceeded our expectations in terms of how well they would handle mommy in the hospital, a new baby to care for, and being shuffled from one city to the next. They did fantastic all things considered! They were excited to meet their baby sister and were very sweet with her! We are so grateful for grandparents who have served us in more ways than we cold ever express making sure our needs were met as well as our sweet girls!

Thank you Lord for your sweet mercy in innumerable ways! We will forever praise your name!
We think you're pretty adorable little Miss Ashton Kate or Baby Ashton Kate as your sisters call you =)
We can't wait to see what your little personality is like and all that the Lord has planned for your life!

Farmer in the Dell Pumpkin Patch 2013

WHAT MEMORIES AND WHAT FUN!!

This will go down as one of the best experiences with our little twinsies from this Fall! It was our last possible weekend to go before adding baby sis to the mix and also the last weekend in October to make our way to a pumpkin patch. We almost decided not to go, and boy am I glad we chose to squeeze in one last family event! The girls were extra cute today and when I think back to our memories at the Pumpkin Patch, I will always smile. When we arrived, the girls decided that today only, they would make mommy and daddy very happy and actually smile endlessly for the camera. Thus, we have cute pictures from today that are hard to come by!

The girls had a ball and loved every part of it! From feeding the goats and Maddie Grace getting knocked to the ground to the hayride and playing in the corn kernels trough, it was low-key, beautiful weather, and enjoyable from start to finish! SO thankful for this special time with Maddie Grace and Makenzie. We were able to truly soak up our last outing as just a family of four!

OcToBeR FoOtBaLL!

Even though Mommy continues to grow more and more uncomfortable as we approach Miss Ashton Kate's big debut into the world, it sure hasn't stopped us or slowed us down very much! We have still tried to make the most of our time with just these two munchkins! Precious handfuls as we like to refer to them! =) We have really loved the excitement of football season and living in Auburn. The weekends have kept us busy with family and friends in town, but it has been such fun for not only us, but our girls as well! They probably won't know what to do when "tailgating" ends and they stop seeing aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents every weekend almost! They know as soon as they are being dressed in "auburn" gear on Saturday what that entails. Maddie Grace still LOVES it and Makenzie still HATES it. Life with twins I tell ya...=0) Let's just say we are still working to overcome Makenzie's scared to death opinion of Aubie!

A few more memories to carry us through October! Below the girls are waiting to enjoy their ice cream sandwich at Toomer's with Mimi, Grandpa, Aunt Sarah & Mommy to kick-off our upcoming football game against Ole Miss! Not sure who ate more of the treat: Mimi or the girls!? Ha!
Yay! Daddy made it home from work in time to enjoy the locker room tour with us on Friday night!
Trying to keep you two off the field was a little bit of a challenge! But your cuteness & excitement made it all worth it!
Such a beautiful night-great weather + fun company!
Could you possibly be more adorable sweet Maddie Grace!?!
Getting a little wild up there on daddy's shoulders! Probably time to make our exit!
Biggest Auburn fan around I tell ya...and always, always on the lookout for AUBIE!
Maddie Grace requested her picture in front of Aubie-beginning to think she might just have her first real "crush!" =) She lights up every time she mentions his name! And a quick picture with daddy before he heads into the stadium to cheer for a win against Ole Miss!
Finally cooler weather for the Western Carolina game! And because it was homecoming and the crowds were a lot smaller, Makenzie really had a good time. However, the real reason is probably because Aubie was not in attendance today! Bless her heart! So thankful for family to help hold the girls, walk them around, take them potty, and give Kendall and I a little R & R for just a moment!! Couldn't do it without them!!
So far, most of the games have been at night but this one happened to be smack dab in the middle of naps which worked out well. Mommy took the girls home, got them down, and then after the game we all met up again for dinner at Irish Bred Pub and had a really fun time together! Great food, fun watching the other games, and the girls favorite part of the night was their balloon shaped Doggy and Aubie! Another great weekend in the books!

And the twins last tailgating experience before adding a third girl to the family!
Auburn. vs. Ole Miss (Oct. 26th)
Thanks Mom and Dad for carrying the weight of preparing food for the tailgate and hauling chairs, etc week after week! We know you love it, but we sure have enjoyed bringing the girls out there each week as well! We'll pull our weight better when we're either not pregnant or hauling three little ones around, ha! =) Seasons of life is what we're saying...

Two and a Half Years Old! Last Monthly Update With Just Two Kiddos!

2 1/2 YEARS OLD!!!
Weight & Height: not quite sure…no scale to use!
Diapers: NO MORE DIAPERS!! Officially potty trained J
Clothes: Mostly 24 months or 2T for both
Shoes: Mak: size 5; MG: size 6
Teeth count: Mak: 16; MG: 16 just waiting on last set of molars

What new things you girls have done this month!? (from 29-30mo)
-Potty training went superb!! We couldn’t have asked for better. Makenzie rarely has an accident and MG will drizzle in her panties but will still hold most of it for the potty; both in the last two weeks have stayed dry at naptime and bedtime! Huge progress so all in all we feel like they have done so well! Now if we can just get MG to tell us when she needs to go instead of letting a little out we’ll be good to go!
-Phrases we still hear a lot of lately: “I watch a movie…” (MG) “I watch nother one…just one more” “I tickle you” “wet willy me” “I don’t need to go potty, I just checkin…” “what color is this, what’s this about everything” (Mak) “I’m fixin to…” (Mak) “two monies, two blankies” (MG)  “I play games mommy,” “oh my goodness” “don’t get me!” “I’m just playin…” (MG) "I check on sissy..." "it's dart...(dark)" “War Eagle, hey!” “Scuse me!”
-The girls talk nonstop and even more now to each other and to their babies. They will have full out conversations which I just love listening to and laughing! So entertaining!
-One thing that has emerged this month and maybe the end of the last is their ability to play so well by themselves! They have gotten so creative and will play for over an hour together-gathering toys and chairs and books and play pretend with their babies and each other! LOVE seeing this!
-Favorite things to play right now: babies/car-taking their babies to the grocery store and using a million grocery bags to empty out their kitchen food into! Still love reading books and working puzzles, playing with the puppy and taking him for walks, anything involving their babies, love doing crafts/coloring/play dough at their little table, love watching movies, love going to the park
-Bedtime/Nighttime has been EXTREMELY tough this month-Makenzie is waking up as many as 6 times a night with a minimum of usually 3 times and is refusing to be put back in bed. She wants only mommy and she wants to be rocked which has led to many sleepless nights, a frustrated mommy and daddy, and occasionally two screaming toddlers after she wakes up Maddie Grace. It’s also been tough getting them to go to sleep-we usually have to sit in the chair every night until they fall asleep, while dodging their thousands of requests for one more hug/kiss, need to go potty, can’t see nightlight, need two blankies on again, music on, too dark, etc L Tiring, tiring…but we will survive!
-Both LOVE getting princess rides to bed from daddy and playing chase with him when he gets home from work! They prefer mommy to do the teeth brushing, take them to the potty, etc but daddy can do the fun stuff!
-Maddie Grace is still attached big time to having “two monies” and “two blankies” over her at night. One is not sufficient at this point. She will put one corner of the bunny up to her nose and then rub another bunny foot corner simultaneously. Makenzie still requests two pacis but at least she is down to just having them at naptime and bedtime. Don’t know how we will ever part with them!
-Favorite song to sing before bedtime is Father Abraham and they ask for it every.single.night! They also love when we sing “You are my sunshine” before bed!
-Have gotten really good at reciting their two “Bible berses…”-time to teach them some more!
-Tailgating each week for football games: Mak despises it and begins pitching temper tantrums before we ever leave the apartment and Maddie Grace seems to really love it. Mak is deathly afraid of Aubie and will start saying “I don’t wanna see Aubie” as soon as she realizes where we’re about to go…on the other hand, MG can’t get enough of him! So different!
-Makenzie also is developing some other random "fears" such as flags (up high on a flag pole), most recently her bedroom she said, bugs, feeding the ducks, she is very timid doing a lot of new things and will want to be held the whole time until she sees Maddie Grace having fun!
-started doing mommy “school” with them this month and boy do they love it! Let’s hope we can find the time to keep it up because they like the structure, the excitement, the crafts and glue sticks esp! & special time with mommy!
-Both are extremely motherly and will rock their babies, talk to them like they are real and act just like mommies-feeding them, comforting them, etc but Makenzie takes it one step further and will re-enact bedtime routines, will talk to her baby like we talk to her about being scared at night and will call them affectionate names like sweet pea, sugar plum, darling, sweetheart, pumpkin, lovey (obviously ones we’ve said to her!) & will pray with them before eating and bedtime-it’s extremely precious!
-Both talk about mommy’s baby in her tummy and will often say they have one too, ha! Makenzie is way more interested in talking to her and feeling her kick and move & she loves blowing raspberries on my stomach to “wake her up!” She requests to touch her every day and MG is a lot less amused by it at this point. Makenzie loves seeing baby clothes and gear for Ashton Kate & if there was any way for her to squeeze her body into it, she’d be wearing it! They love getting in her baby car seat and stroller-let’s hope they love her this much when she actually comes!
-Mommy still has to work overtime to get them to eat a full meal! Maybe one day this will change, when I don’t have the time to bribe and coax them to take a bite! They rarely sit in their high chairs and they wiggle ALL over the chairs and look like monkeys-still trying to work on them sitting still! They are really into smoothies and helping mommy make them. At least I can pack in a lot of nutrients into them!
-Love checking out new books from the library and reading them throughout the week over and over and over again =)
-they wake up each morning requesting to watch “Dora!” I watch movie while I eat breakfast is the usually the first words out of Maddie Grace’s mouth each morning.
-Maddie Grace can be very stubborn and hard headed when she doesn’t get what she wants. We’re still working on not running to the corner screaming and instead asking in a big girl voice for what she wants. Makenzie doesn’t have many tantrums unless you take away her pacis or in the middle of the night when she wants mommy instead of daddy.
-When playing together, Makenzie is usually quite the peacemaker and will share/give up what she has to make Maddie Grace happy which is so precious to see but probably not always the best for MG
-Maddie Grace is still very meticulous and likes things nice and orderly and lined up “just right”-I think Makenzie could care less =) Maddie Grace loves working a harder puzzle and will stick with it until she figures it out! Love seeing her persistence!
-Makenzie will help you do just about anything and is a great cleaner upper! We’re working on Maddie Grace helping more which in the past week has gone really well!
-Maddie Grace is our independent one who likes to do things all by herself-whether it's the potty, getting dressed, or just walking up the stairs (she will often go the "other" way just so she can be different than you!) Makenzie is totally fine being quite needy and dependent on us, more like smothering us with affection and also requests! =)
-This age is so precious, despite the tantrums, disobedience, and bad attitudes. The endless laughs from all their hilarious comments and commentary throughout the day sustain us and let us enjoy their littleness! So, so precious!
